The Aquatics and Athletic Facilities Division of M-NCPPC, is seeking an Aquatics Facility Manager for Rollingcrest-Chillum Splash Pool! Our ideal candidate will provide facility management, maintenance, and operation of a unique facility. The selected candidate will be directly responsible for applying technical expertise in the development and management of programming for all ages at a facility designed for both aquatic and recreational purposes. The position’s work assignment often includes special projects requiring a high degree of specialized and comprehensive knowledge and expertise.

The M-NCPPC offers a competitive salary range of $57,357 to $101,584 at the Facility Manager level with an excellent benefits package including generous leave, extensive health coverage, deferred compensation plan, employer’s retirement plan, and work-life programs. The hiring range for this position will be $57,357 to midpoint of the advertised salary range and will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Examples of Important Duties

  • Oversees the operation of an indoor aquatic facility, developing and implementing procedures, goals, and objectives. Additionally, during summer season is responsible for the operations of two outdoor splash parks.
  • Manages facility’s operating budget. Prepares annual projections, financial reports and monitors revenues and expenditures throughout the fiscal year to ensure facility reaches budgeting expectations.
  • Supervises full time and intermittent staff which entails but is not limited to recruitment, selecting, training, and evaluating. Also, plans, schedules, and assigns work for staff.
  • Counselling staff on opportunities to improve performance and initiates disciplinary action when vital.
  • Works with multiple divisions and maintenance personnel to ensure that the facility’s systems are operating properly and supervises staff on the day-to-day maintenance and repair of the facilities. Actively coordinates maintenance, and repairs.
  • Schedules facility spaces for internal and external programs and rentals. Developing a balance of programming for community and revenue generation.
  • Develops marketing strategies for programs to promote attendance and facility usage.
  • Regularly meets with citizens, community groups, and business groups to identify needs, plan programs, and answer questions about the facility. Investigates complaints, issues, and problems.
  • Oversees the customer service experience of the facility, making sure staff are properly trained, setting a positive example for employees, and ensuring customers are treated in a timely, professional, and respectful manner.
  • Manages facility records and reports in accordance with Commission policies and procedures. Prepare and maintain a variety of administrative records such as revenue and expenses, inventory of supplies and equipment, timecards, rentals, facility maintenance and attendance.
  • Works collaboratively with other Commission divisions, partner agencies and outside agencies. Participates optimally on assigned committees. Performs special project work in the community on behalf of the supervisor, as needed.

Working Conditions
Works in an assigned facility which normally operates seven days per week. Works extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Responds to emergency situations. Requires regular contact with the general public. Responds to citizens’ complaints. On-call 24 hours. Attends meetings and programs at various facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree or four years experience in one of the following fields: parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or in area of required specialty; and

2. Three years of progressive professional experience working in a facility related to parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or area of required specialty, including one year as a facility manager, program coordinator or supervisor; or

3. An equivalent combination of education and experience; and,

4. A valid operating license (i.e. county pool operator’s license, child care license, etc.) where appropriate.

5. A valid driver’s license may be required.

Classification Specification: Recreation/Enterprise Facility Manager II (3472)

  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
  • Considerable knowledge of pool circulation, filtration, sanitation and chemistry; State and County’s safety and health regulations for aquatic facilities; supervision; Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid; principals of management
  • Skills in operation of pool pump room equipment and ability to do minor pool repairs.
  • Ability to solve complex problems involving many variables; read and interpret technical report; prepare correspondence, communicate effectively with the public and staff; organize work efficiently; provide courteous customer service; make sound decisions and handle several tasks simultaneously; and act swiftly and affectively in an emergency.
  • Holidays, nights, and weekend work is required.

Eligibility
