Summary
The Student Life Assistant plays a pivotal role in supporting the Student Life Director to create an engaging and enriching campus experience for our diverse student body. This position, requiring 25 hours per week, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to student life initiatives, coordinate events, and assist in fostering a vibrant campus community.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities:
- Event Coordination and Assistance:
- Collaborate with the Student Life Director to help plan, organize, and execute a variety of campus events at the Pinehurst Campus and the Hoke Center.
- Coordinate all logistical aspects of events, including setup, registration, and participant engagement.
- Provide on-site support during events to ensure their smooth operation.
- Student Engagement and Leadership Support:
- Interact with students on a regular basis, building relationships, addressing inquiries, and sharing information about upcoming events and opportunities.
- Offer guidance and resources to student clubs and organizations.
- Serve as co-advisor to Student Government Association and Ambassadors
- Co-advisor is required to attend two conferences a year (one conference a semester) with the SGA Board.
- Promotion and Outreach:
- Assist in developing creative promotional materials for student events, utilizing both online platforms and campus resources to effectively reach the student body.
- Utilize social media, bulletin boards, and other communication channels to raise awareness of student life activities.
- Use Canva and Publicate to maintain weekly student newsletter
- Provide campus tours to prospective students
- Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records of event attendance, student involvement, and feedback for future planning and improvement.
- Have oversight of the Grab & Go and Food Pantry in the Ewing Leadership Wing
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills, allowing effective communication with diverse student groups, faculty, and staff.
- Proven self-starter and comfortable working independently.
- Organizational abilities, with the capability to manage multiple tasks and event logistics efficiently.
- Creativity and innovation in event planning and promotional strategies tailored to a diverse student population.
- Proficiency in using social media platforms and basic graphic design tools for event promotion.
- Team-oriented mindset, willing to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Previous experience in event planning, student leadership, or related fields is preferred
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends based on event schedules.
- Available to work non-traditional hours
