We are currently recruiting for a Financial Planning Manager – Targetbased out of our corporate headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois. The position is eligible to participate in a hybrid schedule.
The Financial Planning Manager – Target is accountable for working directly with Target merchant team, Target Planners, RDS Target team, and internal ReaderLink departments to provide business metric management, analysis, forecasting, and overall thought leadership that creates growth opportunities and meets challenging business objectives.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Provide thought leadership for Target merchants that aligns with the joint business plans, initiatives and goals set by the team.
- The Financial Planner will manage all segments of the book business and focus on business analysis for Kids, YA, and Adult.
- Design and perform metric analysis that directly impacts assortment, pricing and promotional strategies.
- Generation of forecasting and planning tools that maximize projection accuracy and increase sell thru throughout the department.
- Excellent Time Management & Organizational Skills necessary for meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects.
- Analyze and help the team understand best steps forward from a space perspective.
- Review and analyze merchandising plans & assortment mixes.
- Weigh the expansion of categories against the opportunity costs of removing categories /space and align on the best direction for the overall book category.
- Leading and conducting pre & post analysis of potential moves and opportunities, promo analysis and running proforma scenarios.
- Leadership role in forecast financials.
- Areas of focus for a Target Financial Strategy Planner:
- Pre & Post – promo analysis.
- Scenario analysis of title placement within departments and change moments.
- Size of prize analysis and forecasting.
- Assortment analysis and forecasting.
- Lifecycle optimization.
- Refining Target’s forecasts and their connection to ReaderLink’s Forecasting.
- Other duties may be assigned, directed, or requested.
What You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Minimum of 3 years industry or related experience.
- Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.
- Strong financial & analytical acumen.
- Previous experience working with retail customers.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Knowledge of the book category.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to explore data, draw conclusions, and develop recommendations.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive reports accurately, and present complex ideas clearly and concisely.
- Build out data visualizations using various BI tools.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to speak with all levels of the organization.
- Must be proficient in mathematics.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Salary: Starting at $75,000.00
