Description
Under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Superintendent, performs a variety of complex professional and administrative work in planning, directing, supervising, and evaluating a comprehensive program for residents of the City of Cuyahoga Falls and Natatorium patrons.
Examples of Duties
- Plans, coordinates, supervises, assigns, implements and evaluates a comprehensive program for the Natatorium.
- Programs at the Natatorium include: total aquatic program, programming for people throughout the lifespan, arts, aerobics, exercise, fitness, and athletics. Knowledge of specialized programming for individuals living with disabilities, international newcomers, people of advanced age and non-traditional families.
- Responsible for membership, front desk, banquet room reservations, public relations/marketing, and professional contracts.
- Oversees overall operations in conjunction with the Superintendent and Manager of Maintenance Operations.
- Provide leadership and direction in the development of short- and long-range plans; gather, interpret, and prepare data for studies, reports and recommendations; coordinate department activities with other divisions and agencies as needed.
- Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow; study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the operations area.
- Assure that responsibilities are performed within budget; perform cost control activities; monitor revenues and expenditures to assure sound fiscal control; prepare annual budget requests; assure effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities and time.
- Attend park board, city council and other public meetings as required by the Superintendent.
Typical Qualifications
Relevant Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Master’s Degree a plus, and ten years progressively responsible experience with five years of supervisory and administrative responsibilities is required; or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Knowledge of: The principles of community programming, program development, maintenance operations and public relations; business management, planning, supervision and marketing; and personnel rules, policies and procedures. Knowledge in budget expense and revenue planning and forecasting, cost analysis on facility programs and revenue trends, preparing capital plans and expenses.
Skilled in: Interpersonal relationships; written and oral communication; and the tools and equipment listed below. Focused on customer service, member relations, staff training and customer response.
Ability to: Cooperate with and interpret the Natatorium and department philosophies to City authorities, public and private groups, agencies and the general public; develop and maintain effective relationships with subordinates; and supervise and guide the work of seasonal and part time employees.
Supplemental Information
While the workday is typically 8 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday, early mornings, late evenings or weekend hours will be expected. Attendance at Park Board, City Council, and other public meetings will be required.
The starting salary for this position is $89,647 annually, with regular step increases the first 5 years. After 5 successful years in the position, the salary is $112,086 annually. Compensation package includes medical, dental, prescription drug, vision, and life insurance, pension benefits, paid vacation and other time off.
