Job Description:

GDIT is seeking a Pharmacoeconomist to join our team in Falls Church, VA. This resource will provide technical and program management support for the Military Health System to provide appropriate drug therapy for patients that meet clinical needs in an effective, efficient, and fiscally responsible manner. Moreover, the resource will support drug utilization and research efforts including evaluation of prescribing patterns and analysis of patient health outcomes, critical for evidenced-based decision-making and pharmaceutical policy development in the MHS.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform, design, present and oversee cost-minimization, cost-effectiveness, and/or cost utility analysis of drug regimens for therapeutic categories.
  • Perform studies on pharmaceuticals, drug use evaluation, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, and pharmaceutical policy evaluation in Military Health System.
  • Perform studies of professional and scientific work in the area of health technology assessment including cost effectiveness analysis and budget impact analysis.
  • Perform studies which require knowledge of designing and executing budget impact analysis, which can include decision tree analysis, Markov modeling, and simple/multiple linear regression techniques.
  • Develop and conduct pharmacoeconomic analyses in support of the Uniform Formulary and the Defense Health Agency that require a greater level of analytic complexity.
  • Use various databases and analysis tools (e.g. Business Objects, SAS Enterprise Guide, pharmacy contractor databases, Microsoft Access, SQL queries, Excel including designing pivot tables/charts. etc.) for report development.
  • Carry out and present post decision assessments of DoD formulary decisions that design and oversee analyses that evaluate the impact of pharmaceutical policy decisions.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams involved in general analytics, calculating operational metrics and presenting results to various audiences.
  • Develop and implement pharmacy policies and performance measures that align with the goals of improving health, enhancing readiness, and reducing costs.
  • Provide technical and policy support and guidance to various stakeholders within and outside the government on pharmacy related issues.
  • Collaborate with other leaders and organizations on topics such as medication safety, pharmaceutical supply chain, access to care, and quality improvement.
  • Monitor and report on the progress and outcomes of pharmacy initiatives and projects.
  • Work with informatics teams to leverage technology and automation solutions to standardize and optimize pharmacy workflow.
  • Interpret and advise on the implications of statutory and regulatory policies on pharmacy services.
  • Participate in working groups, panels, and committees to provide expert input and recommendations on pharmacy matters.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Pharmacoeconomics, or related degree is required.
  • Ability to write clear and concise creative content in a highly confidential manner
  • Ability to analyze, advise and provide policy guidance on DoD Pharmacy programs
  • Expert understanding of statutory and regulatory policy on pharmacy services
  • United States citizen capable of obtaining an IT-2 position of Public Trust

The likely salary range for this position is $124,000 – $186,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
