Amazon is seeking a Strategic Business Development (BD) Senior Manager – Amazon Shipping. In this role, the Strategic (BD) Senior Manager will be responsible for generating, managing and executing some of Amazon’s most complex and high impact partnership activities while having a strong technical aptitude to identify best in class partnerships for Amazon Shipping. This includes managing relationships and support negotiations for partnership deals which are unconventional in nature, need a centralized advocate, and/or have broader implications to Amazon Shipping and other Amazon business units. You will interact with senior leaders at Amazon across several of Amazon’s businesses and geographies.
This key role will be highly visible at the most senior levels of Amazon. The Strategic (BD) Senior Manager will need to work collaboratively with internal management teams to understand where relative advantages or risks lie, if/when major features are in existing roadmaps, and current trends around innovation, consolidation and customer adoption. We dive deep and provide thoughtful technical analysis, but are adaptable and action-oriented, focused on quickly gaining enough context to enable informed decision-making. Identifying and help execute strategic partnerships is our primary objective.

The Strategic (BD) Senior Manager will need to have experience to solve complex problems, works effectively with senior cross-functional teams and thrives in a fast-paced setting that is constantly evolving. This position needs a Strategic (BD) Senior Manager with knowledge as an effective manager. (BD) is a small, tight-knit team who values a Strategic (BD) Senior Manager who thinks creatively and will proactively seek out opportunities to advance the growth initiatives of Amazon’s businesses.
Key job responsibilities
– Help design a WW strategy that can evolve into a broad framework for entering into strategic partnerships and alliances
– Take the action to identify, evaluate, help negotiate and manage partnerships that can involve marketing, content, commerce, and technology components.
– Be a point of contact for key partnerships for Amazon Shipping WW
– Help evaluate the economic and strategic cost-benefit of partnerships
– Cooperate with cross-functional teams including Product, Operations, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Tax, Accounting, Corporate Development and senior management to help execute on the relationships
– Develop best practices to foster, manage, and track opportunities
– Support the strategic objectives and interests of Amazon’s business teams
– Recommend investments in key strategic partnerships
– Help carry out valuation analysis and investment thesis/themes

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 7+ years of experience in a leadership role within a business development discipline
– Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– MBA or similar advanced degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field desired
– Experience in retail, e-commerce, and/or logistics
– Experience leading supply-chain and customer facing initiatives.
– Experience solving analytical problems, either in professional experience (data analysis) or education
– Knowledge to think strategically, but experience in tactical execution
– Experience leading a distributed organization in multiple geographies
– Experience developing long-term vision and strategy, and influencing leadership decisions
– Verbal and written communication skills
– Attention to detail knowledge and organizational skills
– Experience to foster an environment of innovation
– Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify insights, and make data-driven decisions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $154,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $288,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
