Job Title-Openshift/Kubernetes Engineer

This position is for an SME who has a background in Kubernetes platforms and the associated DevOps CI/CD pipeline experience. This role will be working on our on-premises OCP initiative to help provide thought leadership and Engineering guidance to future implementations by way of best practices.

The Platform Engineering & DevOps teams are responsible for the efficient engineering support of infrastructure to run KP’s container applications. This includes providing convenient, scalable solutions for development, deployment, and operations across teams, languages, and hybrid cloud environments.
• Ensures configuration of the platform supports the design and service intentions
• Platform and service reliability engineering
• Automation, integrations, and configuration to support customer facing services
• Platform integrations with CI/CD and security tool ecosystems
• Automation, integrations, configuration to support internal service / platform operations
• New component onboarding and enablement for use within the platform (WebSphere Liberty, Tomcat, etc.)
• Operational problem management
• Log management
• Safe agile software development process
• Execution of platform version upgrades
• Automations to support platform operations and health
• Platform configuration per SME / Architect direction
• Automations to support platform operations and health
• Platform monitoring and alert management
• Governance and leadership to partner teams related to platform changes, upgrades, etc.
• Work with application team and assist with onboarding process
• Monitor and escalate performance and capacity, allocations, security, environment portability
• Drive containers adoption to become the SME for OpenShift Kubernetes environment

  • Support a multi-tenant OpenShift/Kubernetes clusters
  • Collaborate with both internal and external managed services team members
  • Handle OpenShift/Kubernetes platform incidents and requests related to deployment
  • Assist with Sysdig application monitoring and triage alerts when escalated by IO (infrastructure operations) team
  • Support onboarding in Sandbox, Dev, Staging and Production environments
  • Assist with application security scanning
  • Participates in the overall support of the OpenShift Container Platform
  • Perform continuous review and process improvement

Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering
• At least 3-5+ years of experience working with containers Openshift Kubernetes
• Experience working on open-source projects
• Strong expertise in DevOps and CI/CD implementation, onboard development teams to the environment, and manage the CI/CD pipeline tools using Jenkins
• Thorough knowledge of cloud-native development
• Experience with container technologies like OpenShift Kubernetes
• Understanding of microservice design and architectural patterns
• Familiar with complex event processing and event-driven architecture

• Maintenance of Container clusters

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $110000 – 120000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
