Collection of Black Voices of Upstate South Carolina is an oral history project to collect stories rooted in people, place and traditions.
The Project Coordinator (PC) reports directly to the Executive Director and will be the point of contact for interns and community engagement. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that the schedule, budget and details of a given task are well organized. The Project Coordinator will be involved in all project phases and will manage a broad range of tasks as it relates to the oral history project. The Project Coordinator is responsible for communicating with various stakeholders and partners to keep them abreast of project’s progress and needs. In addition, the Project Coordinator will organize reports, plan meetings and provide updates to the Project Director.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
Coordinate all meetings pertaining to the oral history project.
Contribute to the development and implementation of the oral history project.
Schedule interns for various activities related to the oral history project.
Assist and participate in the community engagement meetings.
Prepare program supplies and materials.
Keep track of oral history equipment.
Monitor the progress of oral history collections.
Set up and breakdown museum space for programs and workshops.
Proactively engage visitors in the oral history project, encourage their curiosity and offer interpretive information to optimize their experience.
Attend department meetings and training to ensure continued growth and professional development.
Provide support for other team members, including preparing materials and assisting with special events when needed.
Prepare social media posts on the oral history project and create analytics regarding posts.
Create various documents to keep track of the oral history project progress.
Minimum qualifications & Requirements
Strong communication skills and experience with customer service.
Enthusiasm, flexibility and the ability to work in a fast paced, team oriented environment.
Well organized.
Ability to keep track of budgets, schedules and interns.
Creativity and a good sense of humor
Interest in African American history and culture , Upstate SC History or any related field is a plus.
Social Media savvy
Bachelor’s degree is a plus or relevant life experience.

The Clemson Area African American Museum is the only African American museum in Pickens County devoted to African American history in Upstate South Carolina. The Museum explores the development of the African American communities in the city of Clemson and upstate South Carolina region through the exhibitions, tours, educational programs and workshops. Founded in 2007, the Clemson Area African American Museum (CAAAM) is dedicated to telling and preserving the stories of African Americans in Pickens County that provide enduring lessons for navigating contemporary life. CAAAM is located in what was once the Calhoun Colored School, in the City of Clemson.
