Position Summary:

The Payroll/HRIS position requires a dedicated professional to oversee the efficient processing of payroll, guaranteeing accurate calculations of wages, tax withholdings, and deductions. Compliance with governmental regulations and meticulous preparation of statistical reports are crucial aspects of this role. Additionally, the position entails managing Unity’s HRIS system in People Support, where the focus lies in supporting and maintaining HRIS applications and modules. The individual in this role acts as a technical point of contact for HRIS systems, offering assistance in developing and supporting process solutions, ensuring data integrity, conducting system change testing, analyzing data flow, and providing support during system upgrades.

Pay: $70,000/yr

Essential Job Functions:

  1. HRIS Administration:
    1. Collects and analyzes data to enhance HR strategies and processes, proposing methods to improve functional productivity and streamline workflow within the HR department.
    2. Guides the People Support team in automating, integrating, and configuring core HR processes.
    3. Identifies opportunities to optimize the HRIS for an exceptional employee experience, contributing to the transformation of the company/organization into a high-impact HR entity.
    4. Manages and administers report writing tools for end users, offering training and support to users of these tools.
    5. Listens to customer needs and effectively communicates complex technical issues and solutions using plain and easily understandable language.
    6. Designs and implements training and development programs, aligning learning objectives with organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
    7. Develops training program materials and facilitates new hire orientation.
    8. Evaluates the effectiveness of training and development initiatives by assessing their impact on job performance and provides recommendations for future programs.
    9. Acts as the Project Manager for annual Salary Budget Workbooks, ensuring accurate organizational budgeting and preparation of workforce reports.
  2. Payroll:
    1. Processes payroll for multiple entities and states, accurately inputting and calculating data while maintaining payroll system and related records.
    2. Calculates employee take-home pay based on salary or time records, benefits, and taxes, promptly identifying and resolving any discrepancies in timesheet and payroll records.
    3. Adheres to payroll policies, procedures, and relevant laws, and handles correspondence from Federal and State agencies.
    4. Supports the filing of tax reports and voluntary deduction reports by the payroll company, and processes involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments.
    5. Ensures compliance with government regulations and produces accurate reports as required.
    6. Assists with audits and provides documentation as necessary.
    7. Generates payroll reports for record-keeping purposes.
    8. Ensures compliance with government regulations and accurate reporting.
    9. Assists in year-end filings.
    10. Reconciles payroll deductions with benefit invoices on a monthly basis.
    11. Calculates annual paid time off and updates employees’ accrual banks accordingly.
  3. Regular and reliable attendance at the worksite and adhere to assigned schedule this position is not a remote or telecommute position.
  4. Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures per the guidebook including all safety requirements including all safety guidelines.
  5. Utilize electronic time management system to input time, attendance and time off request.

Non-Essential Job Functions:

  1. Facilitate training on employee relations as assigned.
  2. Assist with recruitment when needed.
  3. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources or related field.

Experience:

  1. Possess a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in payroll and HRIS.
  2. Demonstrate a progressive background with 2 years of experience in training and onboarding.
  3. Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially when discussing and handling confidential payroll and/or personal information.
  4. Display exceptional interpersonal skills, fostering effective relationships across multiple levels of the organization. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and following directions to accomplish assigned tasks.
  5. Previous experience in developing and managing department budgets.
  6. Exemplify meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
  7. Possess advanced knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to employee relations, payroll, and taxes.
  8. Able to handle sensitive and confidential information with utmost discretion.

Computer Skills:

  • Intermediate end-user of MS Office: MS Word, Excel.
  • Database management experience including HRIS is required.

Certificates & Licenses: Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) preferred.
