As an HR Business Partner (HRBP), you will be a key member of the team that enables the Laboratory to accomplish its mission by providing strategic guidance and high-level support to management on all HR products and services and implementing a wide range of HR programs. The HRBP leads the direction for Associate Laboratory Directorate HR level activities with a sub-team of HR Generalists.
This position will be deployed support of an Associate Laboratory Directorate (ALD).

Minimum Job Requirements:
Leadership & Partnership:Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with senior-level management and executives. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior staff. Demonstrated experience leading and facilitating strategic HR activities and special projects. Advanced analytical skills to evaluate and present strategic HR execution. Experience in bringing teams together and working with cross-cutting teams to achieve a common goal or objective.
HR Business Acumen: Advanced knowledge and consultative experience with a variety of customer organizations as well as knowledge of organizational structure, mission, and goals, including the specialized knowledge of HR theories, principles, and understanding of HR as an interrelated system of functional operations. Significant understanding of the following HR-related disciplines: benefits, compensation, affirmative action/equal employment opportunity, employee relations, staffing, other core HR services, employee development, etc.
Evidence of advising stakeholders on human resources policies and procedures, completing HR actions such as talent acquisition, salary actions, promotions, terminations, performance management, and employee relations issues. Advanced analytical skills and demonstrated experience applying complex/specialized knowledge to address organizational business needs.
Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to be predictive and proactive when working with customers to understand the business, their needs, resolve issues, and apply policy and procedure to successfully achieve business goals. Builds long-term, trusting relationships with clients and HR colleagues as well as with members of other organizations to collaboratively address client objectives at a broad level. Demonstrated experience in managing difficult situations and conflict. Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Advanced skills in preparation and presentation of oral and written reports.
Technical Expertise: Expert working knowledge of HR processes and procedures. Demonstrated experience with HR systems (i.e., Oracle, People Soft, etc.) and databases (i.e., Microsoft Excel) to accurately input information and retrieve, organize, and report HR data and metrics. Ability to use data and analytics to inform business decisions.
Ethical Practice: Direct experience maintaining confidentiality and protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) throughout daily operations.
Planning and Prioritization: Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of assignments, including the assignments of others, adapt quickly to shifting priorities, meet strict deadlines, and multi-task in a detail-oriented and fast-paced environment. Effectively communicate for both informational and educational purposes in a 360-degree manner.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.
Desired Qualifications:
• Professional certification (PHR, SPHR) is highly desirable
• Detailed knowledge of organization and business as well as knowledge of LANL organizational structure, mission and goals
• Active DOE Q Clearance
Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM with the potential for teleworking from a location within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite will be periodically required. Telework is at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment: The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 – Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
