OVERVIEW

The Facilities and Maintenance Manager will oversee the FreshRealm manufacturing facility in Indianapolis, IN through in-depth mechanical and technical skill sets, prior experience facilitating the expansion of a major operation, and development and management of the Maintenance team to ensure daily maintenance is achieved according to plan.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring facilities maintenance work follows safety standards, conforms to specifications, and that work is tracked and completed within the budget guidelines
  • Resolving facilities and maintenance-related problems, exercising technical judgment in planning, and organizing hands-on effort
  • Working with Operations staff to ensure all equipment and facilities are satisfactorily meeting the needs to produce quality product
  • Ensures facilities maintenance work follows safety standards.
  • Leads and coordinates the work of Maintenance Engineers and contractors engaged in equipment installation, use, and PPM.
  • Delegates work assignments to team members as appropriate
  • Works cross-functionally across all departments to ensure that projects meet the requirements of internal stakeholders
  • Develops staff and gives positive feedback to help build team members’ confidence
  • Promotes ‘Quality’ within the facility by positively reinforcing the Company’s quality ethos and encouraging a ‘right the first time, every time’ approach. Ensure regular attendance at ‘testing panels’ by self and staff.
  • Ensures that Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP’s), as indicated by product specifications or other media, is adhered to at all times and stages of the process. Enforces GMPs, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s), quality, and proper documentation of processes. Enforces the clean-as-you-go policy and practices.
  • Works on new construction and remodeling projects of fresh food refrigerated warehouse spaces
  • Conducts research and investigations and follows up with recommendation action plans. Creates, updates, and publishes facilities maps and provides updates or reports of current room utilization and dimensions.
  • Manages large-scale projects up to the value of $1 million, completing project scopes and CAPEX sheets, User Requirement Specifications, Factory Acceptance Tests, and Start-Up Check Sheets
  • Liaise with external contractors and ensures the highest work standards. Leads the permitting process and ensures no interruption to agreed timescales.
  • Coordinates with utility and insurance companies and other agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and codes (e.g., electrical, fire, boiler, and backflow preventers), maintaining records, reports, and files appropriately
  • Responsible for the highest level of health and safety for employees, agency employees, and the consumer. Required to report and complete ‘Accident / Incident’ forms and conduct any necessary investigation, taking measures to prevent additional problems or reoccurrence. Ensures proper training and re-training are conducted as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Skills and Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of all continuous improvement production techniques
  • Knowledge of large-scale business start-ups is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability at being a team player
  • Certified and trained in OSHA requirements or expectations, HACCP, SDS, First Aid/CPR, and Food Hygiene
  • Ability to motivate others to work routine and monotonous processes and stand for extended periods of time
  • Must have a strong understanding of English; bilingual (Spanish) speaking skills are helpful
  • Ability to work in a cold/ damp environment and stand for extended periods

Experience / Education

  • A Minimum (5) years experience in a management role, preferably in a chilled food environment within a fast-paced business
  • 3 years or more experience applying and enforcing routine Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) in a food environment is essential
