Position Summary
The Daniels College of Business seeks an innovative, strategic, and detail-oriented candidate for our Manager of Financial Aid position. The Manager of Financial Aid is a member of the Finance & Business Operations team in the Dean’s Office and collaborates day-to-day with the Undergraduate Programs student services team. The Manager is responsible for developing and implementing annual and multi-year award plans to deploy scholarships funds in the most effective and equitable manner possible to an outstanding and diverse group of students.
Overall Job Responsibilities:
- Awarding: responsible for administering and maintaining graduate and undergraduate scholarships
- Student Counseling: key point of contact for students regarding awards and eligibility
- Donor Interaction: collaborate with Advancement to provide recipient information to donors and attend events for donors and scholarship recipients
- Business Operations: manage scholarship budgets, track student awards for special programs, coordinate information with Office of Financial Aid and Daniels College of Business stakeholders
- Collaborative Team Member: be a key team member by contributing ideas, encouraging others, and supporting the team
Essential Functions
Awarding
- Gain deep understanding of graduate and undergraduate scholarship endowments and gifts for the College with the goal of articulating donor requirements and determining eligibility.
- Coordinate with the Office of Financial Aid, department chairs, program directors, etc. to effectively award undergraduate scholarships on a timely basis according to Financial Aid timelines and policies.
- Consistently coordinate with the Daniels Office of Admissions to strategically align graduate scholarships with offers of admission.
- Continually evaluate our scholarship process to ensure inclusion and equity.
Student Counseling
- Be the key point of contact for students regarding eligibility and tuition bills
- Counsel applicants, students and graduates regarding aid and financing options
- Proactively reach out to students or student groups who may be eligible but unaware of scholarship offerings
Donor Interaction
- Assist Advancement to provide historical scholarship data, fund balances and donor requirements.
- Evaluate effective usage of scholarship requirements and provide feedback to donors in collaboration with Advancement.
- Attend events including lunches or dinners with scholarship recipients and donors.
Business Operations
- Determine annual budgets for each graduate scholarship based on beginning balances, endowment distributions and prior year renewals.
- Ensure graduate tuition for each degree and program is properly accounted for in the proper tuition account for the program.
- Review and analyze the student status report each academic quarter to determine if all expected students have enrolled.
- Track dual degree students to ensure students are billed according to their primary degree program.
- Track scholarships at the student level of a small group of programs to ensure students are awarded accurately.
- Follow up on programs with corporate sponsorship.
- As new programs are launched, coordinate with admissions, graduate student services and bursar’s office to ensure students have been properly billed, following up on issues that may arise.
Collaborative Team Member
- Be a key team member of the Finance & Business Operations team in addition to the Undergraduate Programs student services team contributing ideas, encouraging others and supporting the teams.
- Maintain a “no task is too small or too great” mindset.
- Participate in the Daniels and University of Denver community by getting involved in committees and participating in events.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three years of experience in student-facing or customer-facing environment
- Five years of experience in business environment preferably with accounting, budget and analysis responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business
- Three of the five years of experience in higher education
- Three years of experience with financial aid and scholarships
- Experience with Banner

Working Environment
1. Standard office environment.
2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.

Physical Activities
1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
Work Schedule
Typically 8:00 – 4:30 Monday through Friday, nights and weekends as necessary.

The salary grade for the position is 9.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000
