Business Intelligence Analyst – Power BI -San Diego

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to join the Enterprise Business Intelligence team at Zions Bancorporation supporting California Bank & Trust. The Business Intelligence Analyst plays a key role in collecting, validating, modeling, and analyzing data for the organization as well as develop key metrics, design and implementation of data initiatives and reporting within the Bank. The candidate will be provided the opportunity to learn and develop skills working with data from multiple leading-edge Banking system and will be expected to become a report development SME of banking information in partnership with the business, data and financial analysts and the Business Intelligence team.

The Business Intelligence Analyst will:

  • Be responsible for the analysis, solutions design, development, implementation, configuration and support of the Business Intelligence environment and User Interfaces.
  • Design and administer the reporting metadata (i.e. Data Sets/Data Flows, Universes, etc.) and construct/distribute complex reports.
  • Be responsible for the development, distribution, and maintenance of operational, marketing and other ad-hoc reports through the Microsoft Power BI platform.
  • Troubleshoot reporting performance problems and management of BI security.
  • Manage the creation, documentation and publication of policies and procedures of BI technology and data standards and methods.
  • Will develop strong partnerships and client relationship with Bank’s Senior Management team
  • Work with partners to gather and collaborate on project requirements, and share team deliverables
  • Builds consistent and trusting relationships and communications between team members and senior stakeholders of the Bank.
  • Lead projects of moderate complexity along with coaching, development, and training to junior staff.
  • Support other duties as assigned.

Technical Experience and Qualifications

  • Broad knowledge of business intelligence tools and systems; relational databases, report writing, data warehouse system process and data modeling.
  • Advanced Microsoft SQL knowledge with strong T-SQL skills for the creation of views, and complex queries stored procedures, jobs. Tools to include MS Visual Studio and SQL Management Studio
  • Strong skills with Power BI Report development and optimization including experience with SSRS to Power BI migration
  • Good experience in writing DAX expressions and code with the M Query Language
  • Experience in building, configuring, and troubleshooting Power BI gateways, datasets, dataflows and deployment pipelines
  • Experience with Python programming is a plus.
  • Experience with development of knowledgebase documentation and deployment through Sharepoint
  • Bachelor’s in computer science, information technology, business, finance or a related field and 4+ year’s experience in installing and maintaining database systems, statistical/data analysis, modeling, business systems, data bases or other directly related experience
  • Advanced working knowledge of project techniques and practices including usage of Azure DevOps
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with both management and staff employees in problem solving and root cause analysis

A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.

Pay Range – depends on experience: $100,000 – $130,000

Location: Position is primary on-site located at a California Bank & Trust Administration office within San Diego but can work remotely 1 to 2 days a week.
