Wida Compliance Specialist

Job Summary:
The WIDA Compliance Specialist position is located within the Administration/Operations IT department and will report to the Director of IT. This position will be responsible for:
* Understanding and documenting evolving data security, data privacy, and accessibility landscape practices, requirements, laws, and regulations.
* Creating externally facing security and privacy practices information for consumption by customers.
* Communicate applicability of and adherence to laws, regulations, and requirements with respect to WIDA’s solutions and offerings.
* In collaboration with other WIDA departments, crafting written responses of technology compliance in the form of policies, contracts, and procurement requirements.
* Collaborating with customers and partners to respond to their requests related to data security, data privacy, and accessibility.
* Working with technology vendors to understand, assess, improve, and communicate their capabilities around data security, data privacy, and accessibility practices with internal and external audiences.
* Researching, tracking, reviewing, and coordinating resolutions of WIDA content misuse.
* Developing internal staff resources to increase adherence, adoption, knowledge, and awareness of data management practices.

Working fully remote is an option for this position within the United States (working remotely internationally is not an option). Responsibilities: Compiles and classifies reports, issues notifications, assists with creation and maintenance of manuals and public information; and manages unit administrative documents in support of a specific compliance program to ensure compliance with institutional rules and or laws/regulations.

  • 30% Collects, compiles, and organizes reports for a defined compliance program and communicates data to internal and external stakeholders when appropriate
  • 10% Issues compliance notifications and provides education and resources to inquiring entities
  • 40% Assists with the creation and the maintenance of manuals, communication materials, and other compliance materials in accordance with established laws and regulations
  • 5% Collaborate with our technology vendors to assess, improve, and communicate to external audiences their capabilities around data security, data privacy, and accessibility practices
  • 5% Research, catalog, and assess evolving data security, data privacy, accessibility landscape practices, requirements, laws, and regulations from a Federal, State, and international perspective
  • 5% Work with UW entities to process and protect UW and WIDA interests and assets associated with WIDA products and service offerings
  • 5% Respond to customer inquiries and requests regarding our data security and privacy practices

Qualifications:
* Demonstrated exceptional communication skills (listening, written, and verbal) to both internal and external audiences.
* Experience in consumption, comprehension, and interpretation of complex texts in one or more subject areas of law, technology, and procurement.
* Experience in the creation and execution of policies, procedures, and practices to manage, control, and secure IP content, data, and information.
* Experience crafting technology requirements for solution procurements and crafting responses to technology requirements of procurement requests.
* Experience training and awareness building of technology-related data privacy and security practices both internally and externally.
* Experience collaborating with and managing technology vendors.
* A value of promoting and fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion.
* A willingness to engage in and deepen knowledge of WIDA’s Social Justice value.

It is anticipated this position will be remote and requires work be performed at an offsite, non-campus work location. WIDA Core hours: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. CT.
