PAY RANGE: $85,500 – $114,000 (Min-Mid)
Scheduled Work Hours: Core hours are Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. or as work conditions dictate.
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Under direction of the Director of Division Operations, this position plans, manages, oversees, and coordinates design functions within assigned areas to ensure that all customers’ needs are met while maximizing efficiencies, effectiveness and productivity of the design staff. Coordinates and oversees designs to ensure consistent, efficient and cost-effective work designs. This individual is responsible for the effective development, training, evaluation and performance of the design personnel in the region. This individual may also perform design work on an as needed basis.
- Collaborates closely with our Scheduling group to prioritize, maintain and support work planning and schedule integration. This position will serve as a local liaison with T&D Asset Management, Distribution Planning, Scheduling, Construction & Maintenance, Distribution Line Construction, , and customer service groups and is responsible for transforming long term strategic plans for projects and initiatives into a backlog of prioritized, completed designs that can be tactically deployed to our construction workforce.
- Ensures project schedules are reviewed, analyzed and updated on a regular basis, identifies resource or equipment gaps, and generates practical solutions to optimally utilize the resources. Develops and submits periodic reports and metrics to operations management on performance, risks and related impacts to the long-term plan for the area.
- Assists and works with other departments on requests and specialized services as needed. Responsible for overseeing the management of customer contact activities and is responsible for overseeing interfaces with various city, county, state and federal agencies on project requirements to ensure customer needs are being met.
- Working within a team environment, will frequently interact with all levels and varieties of customers and company leadership. Must be a visionary and have the ability to communicate and implement the vision effectively. They will interact with customers on a regular basis and deliver a customer centric experience.
- Will provide support during normal day to day operations and during emergency and storm restoration conditions. The position will serve on the Design supervisor call rotation list. Will fully support our Company safety culture and will work to improve all safety related processes and procedures.
Education and Experience Requirements: The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field. It is required that the selected candidate have at least seven years of related work experience in the electric utility design / scheduling / construction areas or related operations planning experience. The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a supervisor or manager, however, individuals with strong technical skills and a desire to lead groups and demonstrated leadership capability may be considered for the role at the Supervisor level.

- Must have demonstrated supervisory experience using interpersonal relations and strong communication skills to handle conflict and demonstrate leadership, team building, and coaching/mentoring abilities.
- Must maintain a high level of professionalism at all times and possess a progressive, dynamic attitude toward solving problems and working with team members.
- Must be able to apply tact, diplomacy, reason and logic.
- Project management and leadership skills including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
- Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness.
- Ability to make formal and informal presentations to technical and non-technical staff and customers.
- The preferred candidate will possess the skills or ability to learn applications including, STORMS, CCB, Maximo, ArcMap, Managed Query, and OMS
The preferred candidate will possess a working knowledge of Code Requirements such as but not limited to: (city/county codes and National Electric Safety Code); Design Programs; Construction and Service Standards, General Terms and Conditions; Company Policies and Procedures; Line Construction Standards; Safety Manual; Union Agreement; customer service, troubleshooting, dispatching, and electric construction work methods/practices.
Licenses, Certification, Bonding and/or Testing Required: Valid driver’s license required. Must have a safe driving history.
Working Conditions: Conditions will vary from office to field environments. Must be able to work additional hours on short notice. Some travel may be required. Must have satisfactory work record including good attendance.
