The Role
As a Senior Civil Engineer on Tesla Energy infrastructure development team, you will be playing a critical role in large CAPEX green field and brown field projects focusing on site selection due diligence, development feasibility study, land development, site planning and design, roadway/transportation/access analysis.
Responsibilities
- Determine the feasibility of a development project and assess the land to ensure that it can support the planned development.
- Once the possibility is established, develop the design of the infrastructure, including streets, utilities, waste management, drainage, and other systems by creating concept drawings or using modeling software to visualize the design concepts
- Coordinate with other discipline designers and planners to assess cross functional design options
- Perform code analysis and feasibility including zoning requirements, municipal regulations
- Outreach to AHJs, research and understands local jurisdiction requirements regarding permitting, permit process, special requirements on land development, SWPPP, erosion control, grading and drainage.
- Define and plan project work scope, schedules, budget, and resource requirements
- Independently develop high quality civil engineering products including conceptual design document drawings, specifications, narratives, and calculations, RFP package.
- Effectively and proactively communicate project needs, changes, and status to internal and external team members
- Review drawings and proposals by vendors, engineers, and architects, and drive multi-disciplinary coordination
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer license will be considered as a big plus
- 8+ yrs of hands-on experience building high-tech/industrial infrastructure and operational facilities (semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.)
- Experiences in managing civil engineering work, demonstrating leadership and ownership
- Experience in civil engineering design, stormwater management plans, stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), heavy civil, wastewater, and manufacturing
- Knowledge in surveying, GPR scanning and geotechnical engineering will be considered a big plus as this role requires technical coordination with the said roles
- Operational construction site development background with experience in design of roadway, grading, pavement, sewer, storm drainage, water, erosion and sediment control, and traffic plans
- Proficient in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil design Ability to multi-task and adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and timelines
- Ability to communicate clearly and interface at an executive level within a diverse team
- Ability to uphold the use of standards and escalate issues in a timely fashion
- Demonstrates an “outside the box” problem solving approach; develop alternative and innovative design solutions
- Experience in heavy infrastructure, traffic analysis, transportation design

$92,000 – $282,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
