Senior Animator – Lead OS Reviewer
Location: Remote North America – open to most North America locations
Maxis is looking for a Senior Animator to lead our outsourcing efforts for the future. You will. establish the outsourcing pipeline and process for our team, partnering with your cross-disciplinary partners to deliver high-quality animation content for our game. You will report to the Development Director for Animation.
Responsibilities:
Short Term
Create a variety of high quality keyframe animations and adapt to the style, tenets, and deliverables of the animation aesthetic.
Acclimate to the current methods of implementation and RnD, with a clear view on long-term objectives.
Collaborate with the internal team on future implementation methods, with a lens on how it will impact OS
Create packages to evaluate and decide on an appropriate long-term vendor/s for the project.
Work with the Animation Director to develop an external team that scales with production and evolve a process to deliver content effectively.
Long Term
Develop an effective OS feedback loop and process to be leveraged with the chosen vendor/s
Elevate our product by mentoring, creating learning material, and spreading knowledge across the OS animation team.
Provide feedback to the OS animation team in a timely manner and develop their skill-set in animation to meet the vision set by the Animation Director.
Track and oversee all OS animation assets, ensuring all assets are clean, organized, and fit the file structure, convention and storage requirements for the transition of assets to the internal team.
Estimate and assist in scoping exercises to ensure OS animation can meet production schedules, across all milestones of the product.
Verify content quality and functionality in the engine and tools.
Partner with leaders in Audio, FX and Animation to ensure OS animation meets technical and game play requirements.
Report updates, keeping Animation Director and leadership up to date regarding production status, risks and solves.
Work collaboratively with technical artists/animators to ensure workflow, pipeline, and tools are in place to meet production needs for Animation OS.
Drive documentation efforts related to all Animation OS needs between OS partners and our internal team.
Qualifications:
7+ years as a seasoned gameplay animator contributing to all phases of game production on a AAA title
Expert in creating and providing feedback for full body keyframe animation with a primary emphasis on full body character performance in Maya
Excellent technical comprehension in implementation systems in game engines such as Unity, Unreal or similar.
Effective decision-making, including defining and setting priorities for yourself or others.
Adaptable to new animation styles, in game animation production tools, workflows, and pipelines.
Expert experience in providing animation feedback to external animation groups, across different time-zones.
Experience building and maintaining a positive relationship with OS partners for long-term project building.
Experience owning a segment of animation production with external development and being the nexus of communication.
Passionate and positive with a mindset that focuses on quality, collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
BASE SALARY RANGES
• California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):
° $113,300 – $171,700
• New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):
° $111,500 – $171,700
• Jersey City, NJ:
° $126,700 – $171,700
• Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):
° $111,500 – $144,000
• Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):
° $111,500 – $157,300
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
