GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, to assist in planning, organizing, and implementing programs at an assigned recreation center with an emphasis on programs and special events and including youth, adults, and senior citizens; and to lead and teach participants in recreational or special project programs.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
This position exercises no supervision.
IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provide courteous and quality customer service.
Assists with the day-to-day operations of the Recreation Center.
Ensures that procedures and rules are followed.
Assists in recordkeeping including documenting client records, participation reports, and accident/incident reports.
Oversees the use and care of recreational equipment and the facility.
Leads participants in planned recreation programs and activities such as arts and crafts, table games, indoor and outdoor events.
OTHER JOB RELATED DUTIES
Perform other job related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Principles and techniques of organizing and leading people.
First aid practices and techniques.
Skill to:
Ensure safety of patrons utilizing the facility.
Operate office equipment including computer equipment.
Ability to:
Respond quickly in an emergency situation; follow and enforce rules; verbally communicate with the public and staff effectively.
Lead and instruct groups in leisure time activities.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, both internally and externally.

Experience and Training Guidelines:
Any combination equivalent to experience and training to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying. Knowledge, skills, and abilities may be obtained through:
Experience:
Prefer previous experience in recreation of group activities preferred.
Education/Training:
A high school diploma or GED is required.
License or Certificate:
A valid driver’s license, the ability to obtain one within ninety (90) days of employment, or a military waiver is preferred.
Obtain a CPR, AED and First Aid Certification within (3) months of hire.
Special Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
Position includes working in outdoor conditions, which includes extreme heat.
Ability to travel to different job sites.
