Schedule Details:: Flexible schedule, we are open seven days a week from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm. Most shifts are from 6:30 am to 1 pm or 1 pm to 7:30 pm.Wibit cashier 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.
Description
To perform as the receptionist/cashier for the City of Durango Lake Nighthorse Recreation Area at the entrance station and/or swim beach lifeguard building. Duties involve the continual monitoring of the entrance station which includes being stationed at a drive-up window, operating a point-of-sale computer program, greeting, and assisting lake visitors, and assisting with facilities maintenance. Swim beach duties include customer service, minor concessions, PFD fitting for Wibit visitors, and program registration. Assist with access control, program registration, visitor use tracking, cash handling, and accounting. Perform routine clerical duties and a variety of related tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Essential Job Duties
The following duties are normal for this position. However, they are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may also be required or assigned.
- Greet and assist the public in a courteous and responsive manner; provide information and directions for City attractions; locate staff, direct visitors to Lake Nighthorse amenities.
- Perform entrance station functions including facility admissions, recreation program registrations involving cash handling and accounting.
- Assist the public at the swim beach with general information, PFD fitting for Wibit visitors, and basic maintenance of swim beach and lifeguard amenities.
- Selling concessions at the swim beach as well as program registration.
- Assist with administrative duties including record keeping and data collection.
- General public reception in-person and by telephone. Performs access control and monitors computer systems.
- Assist in Lake Nighthorse Recreation Area operations, including daily opening and closing functions.
- Ability to multitask and quickly adapt to changing work conditions as well as possible extreme weather conditions.
- Maintain park and open space grounds including trash removal and a variety of light landscaping duties.
- If necessary, patrol of Lake Nighthorse grounds by foot, motorized vehicles, and boat to collect debris, and to attend to any possible safety and parking issues as well as lake supervision.
- Assists with inventories and ordering supplies and equipment for the recreation facility.
- Assists with cleanliness of the facility which includes entrance station, toilets, parking areas, boat ramp and courtesy docks.
Other Duties:
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices.

- This job has no supervisory responsibilities, although may provide leadership of community volunteers.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- Operations, services, and activities of a municipal recreation facility.
- Basic knowledge of principles and practices of recreation services and facility operations.
- Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment, including computerized cash register, multi-line telephones, and copiers.
- Mathematical principles and practices.
- Cash handling techniques.
Skill in:
- Operate a variety of office equipment, including point of sale computer software, multi-line telephone, and copier.
- Being part of a successful guest services team.

Work Environment:
- Work is performed mostly indoors but may include tasks outdoors, on varied terrain, in park settings, and on the water.
- Mostly standing to perform entrance station and swim beach duties with periods of mobility and physical activity.
- Workload will fluctuate with park visitation.
- Physical and Mental Requirements/Activities:
- This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, frequently requires standing, speaking, or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling and reaching with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. Will spend a large amount of time viewing a computer screen.
- Vocal communication and normal hearing are required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
- Acceptable verbal and conversation skills to effectively communicate with others via the phone, at meetings and to greet and assist visitors.
- Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities.
- Frequent use of phone handset and repetitive use of hand & fingers to operate office equipment, use computer keyboard & computer mouse and to perform other office tasks.
- Ability to recognize occupational hazards in work activities and take safety precautions.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education and Certification: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
Minimum Experience: Customer service and clerical related skills, including cash handling.
