The Center for Professional Development (CPD) at the University of Denver provides quality, accessible professional education to the Denver Metro area and beyond. Non-credit programs are designed to develop new skills and refresh existing proficiencies to help professionals advance their careers.

Position Summary

The Program Manager is responsible for supporting the Center for Professional Development in all aspects of the student experience and the delivery of professional development programs in a variety of fields. This position will engage in activities to support operational program management, logistical planning, student experience, and instructor support. The Program Manager contributes significantly to the department’s impact by planning, implementing, and assessing professional development programs, as well as supporting faculty and instruction. Essential Functions

Program Support

  • Manage curricula and instructors of assigned portfolio of professional education programs.
  • Support course and program development efforts through initial discovery and course exploration, course design, internal workflow submissions, and other essential development functions.
  • Create course containers in Elevate (non-credit registration system) and assist with registering students, inputting grades, and creating certificates.
  • Oversee delivery of classes, including setting schedules and documenting, synthesizing, and making recommendations based on regular quality reviews.
  • Assist CPD team in designing new professional development programs and certificates.
  • Serve as backup point person for additional CPD programs.
  • Maintain productive and collaborative relationships with community and professional partners.

Student Experience & Administration

  • Manage the student-facing components of the programs and work with students and faculty to ensure the highest quality outcomes.
  • Manage student-facing components of programming, including supporting access to University Systems, pre-class communication, and post-class credentials, and provides the highest level of customer service and support to prospective and current students through verbal and written communication.
  • Plan and execute program launches and other program-related events.
  • Responsible for the design and execution of a student communication plan including ongoing communication and updates to students leading up to each course start date.
  • Work with the CPD team to support and expand all continuing education program activities to ensure fiscal success and student satisfaction.

  • Capable of building strong and effective interpersonal relationships with UCOL staff, external partners, and other DU departments.
  • Outstanding attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to quality.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal, written, organizational, and ability to tactfully respond to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to deliver the highest quality customer service over the phone, in writing, and in person.
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment, discretion, confidentiality, and professional attitude.
  • Ability to confidently manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-3 years experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Professional Experience in higher education or an academic setting.
  • Possess a strong understanding of adult learners, non-traditional credentials, and trends in higher education as it pertains to lifelong learning
  • Knowledge of professional education market and/or business development and management

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.
  • Physical Activities

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs. with assistance.
  • Work Schedule

    Monday – Friday 8:00 – 4:30

    Salary Grade Number:

    The salary grade for the position is 8.

    Salary Range:

    The salary range for this position is $50,000 – $55,000.

    The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
