We are looking for a Principal Engineering Manager to help us deliver the evolving suite of M365 products and services into existing regions and align organizations across Microsoft to deliver these same capabilities into additional future Sovereign regions.

Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

  • Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • People leadership e xperience with engineering teams or other technical staff .
  • Experience with applying Lean principles and practice to software engineering teams
  • Proven ability to deal with ambiguous situations and be an agent of change
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 7 + year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering M5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 – $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 – $282,200 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Leverages subject-matter expertise of product architecture and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., engineering managers, architects, product managers, program managers ) to drive cross team engineering plans, release schedules .
  • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to determine business requirements for a scenario.
  • Provide mentoring to the team by leveraging your technical and collaboration skills to enabl e the growth and success of others
  • Acts as a n Incident Manager for our US Gov clouds as well as set s the OCE (On Call Engineer) standard of excellence for the team by continually improving our technical documentation , working on – call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
  • Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends , technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, security, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale
