Job Summary
Supports the marketing and communications team visually by designing a variety of print pieces including publications, flyers, advertisements, web and social media among other assets; crafts and edits video shorts or long-form video assets; and takes photos at events. Works independently and in a team environment with coordinators, designers, photographers, educators, and writers to conceptualize and create original designs for publications. Works closely with event planners and other deadline-driven teams.
Essential Duties:
- Actively participates and provides input in developing creative concepts and graphic/video presentations.
- Consults with and provides recommendations to college employees concerning their marketing needs. Works closely with them to develop visual assets. Edits and revises projects, and secures approval for final print/display.
- Consults with the Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communication and other stakeholders as appropriate on projects including layout, paper, colors, and other graphic elements.
- Ensures that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Actively works with the marketing team and other internal stakeholders to create video content ideas, executes these ideas, and edits them.
- Performs graphic design duties including design and production of advertising, publications, and other collateral, including print and digital media.
- Takes photographs and edits or manipulates imagery for assigned print, web, and digital projects.
Additional Duties:
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Desired Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, or related field
- Three (3) years of graphic design experience and /or video creation and editing experience
- Advanced (high level) knowledge of desktop publishing software such as Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop, Bridge, Premier Pro, After Effects, etc.
- Intermediate (considerable) knowledge of Windows and Macintosh operating systems. Intermediate (considerable) knowledge of current computer software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and presentation applications, preferably within Microsoft Office.
- Experience preparing print-ready CMYK art files for production
- Experience with digital photography, enhancements, touch-ups, and image manipulation.
At the college’s discretion, additional qualifying education/experience may be substituted for education/experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a college or university setting.

- Knowledge of Asana or experience using similar productivity software

- Ability to understand, interpret and apply creative concepts
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to be flexible, manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
- Ability to do light writing/editing
- Knowledge of the Associated Press (AP) style
- Ability to create projects for variable data such as customizing print pieces for mailing, numbering parking passes, etc.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team; be self-directed.
Working Conditions and Important Information
Working Conditions:
Position typically works in a normal office environment while sitting at a computer terminal. Frequent repetitive hand/wrist motion and eye strain. Moderate lifting of paper and materials. Position is expected to cover events on campus, which involves walking, climbing stairs, and setting up equipment in open fields, classrooms, courtyards, and other common spaces. Requires occasional travel to off-campus sites.
