Parent Educator – Early Childhood Education (part-time)

As a Parent Educatorfor our home-based Early Head Start program, you will provide weekly home visits to children and their parents/caregivers in DeKalb, Boone, and Grundy counties. You will conduct age-appropriate developmental activities for children and conduct quarterly assessments of their development. You will also develop partnerships withfamilies,offering parent education activities and helping them to set and achieve family goals.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide weekly home visits to children (0-3) and their parents/caregivers.
  • Conduct age-appropriate developmental activities for children and parent education activities.
  • Conduct quarterly assessments of children’s development.
  • Develop partnerships with families, including helping them identify parent/family strengths, needs and interests, and meet their goals.
  • Assist the Family Support Specialists in assessing the family’s need for services and obtaining all consents needed for family to achieve goals.

Who you are:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field OR Home Visiting Child Development Associate (CDA) required.
  • Two years relevant college coursework experience, or equivalent combination strongly preferred for candidates without a conferred degree.
  • You have a Gateways Level 4 Family Service Credential, or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire, required.
  • Experience in a Head Start or Early Head Start program preferred.
  • You are attentive to detail, self-motivated, well-organized and flexible and have initiative.
  • You are a natural collaborator, effectively communicating with children, parents, and staff.
  • You have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

The details:

  • Location: Hybrid (remote/community-based). Will serve clients inDeKalb, Boone, and Grundy counties.
  • Schedule: Part-time, hourly; general business hours with some flexibility.
  • Staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to submit proof of their vaccination status before their start date unless they have an agency approved medical or religious exemption.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: Range starts at $16.14/hr.
