Job Description:

The Research Coordinator will manage day-to-day operations related to alcohol biosensor and ecological momentary assessment (EMA) research data collection within the NIH/NIAAA funded R01 project–Florida Cohort Wave IV study.

Administration and Coordination of Research Activities
The RA will run the day-to-day operations of the subgroup of participants who provide additional alcohol-related data in the Florida Cohort Wave IV study. Responsibilities include 1) contact, screen, and recruit participants into the study; 2) help prepare materials and supplies needed for survey administration; 3) consent participants, collect data, and help with data entry as needed, 4) maintain contact with participants to train them on EMA and Skyn biosensor; 5) monitor data quality from EMA/Skyn biosensor and contact participants to resolve issues if needed; 6) complete other research related tasks such as maintaining recruitment log and storing study documents; and 7) distribute participant incentives; and 8) transfer EMA and biosensor data to a secure UF desktop computer on a regular basis.

The coordinator may be required to travel to the recruitment sites if needed.

Regulatory and Data Organization
The Research Coordinator will be responsible for requesting, delivering, and monitoring research subject payments using the UF Human Subject Payment system. The coordinator will be responsible for entering, monitoring and maintaining data in the REDCap system. The coordinator will assist with IRB related activities and requirements including submissions and revisions. Coordinate research data collection and create study documents. The coordinator will be responsible for retaining participant records, maintaining project records and ensuring archived documents after project close-out.

Other Activities
The Research Coordinator will assist with the general Southern HIV and Alcohol Research Consortium (SHARC) center research activities, including the general Florida Cohort Wave IV study and/or another study that involves alcohol biosensor and EMA data collection. Responsibilities could include but are not limited to serving as a backup for the general Florida Cohort coordinator, helping with and attending weekly team meetings, helping to monitor phone lines for participant recruitment, helping with study recruitment, helping to enroll people into the participant registry or other related studies, helping with SHARC community-related activities (e.g., train other staff in community settings, provide data summaries back to communities, help to ensure our website information related to the study is correct, help to create communications/instructions related to the specific research procedures), and/or participating in occasional community activities related to the SHARC Center in general.

Expected Salary:
$16 – $25 per hour; commensurate with education and experience.
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with IRB related processes and procedures
  • Experience with Human Subjects Payments
  • Experience with human research, participant recruitment/consent
  • Experience with remote studies
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience with mobile technology for data collection (e.g., phone-based app)
  • Friendly communication by email, phone, and face-to-face
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to work with diverse populations patiently
  • Ability to help create posters, papers, patient-communications
  • Knowledge of grant proposals, post award management and IRB guidelines
  • Master’s Degree of Public Health (MPH)
  • Speaking Spanish is a plus
