Job Summary

The International Trade Analyst’s substantive focus will involve matters related to “Know Your Customer” (“KYC”) counterparty due diligence. This includes (a) research to identify beneficial ownership, (b) screening of all counterparties against economic sanctions (including, but not limited to those administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and other denied party lists, and (c) broader transactional reviews to identify any other potential red flags related to economic sanctions, anti-money laundering (“AML”), corruption, bribery, or other financial crime risks.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serves a primary role in the firm’s internal and external due diligence function.
  • Conducts sanctions screening of clients, counterparties, and transactions using internal and external databases for potential economic sanctions or export-related risks, other “red flags,” and to determine beneficial ownership.
  • Investigates non-obvious false positives and true positive hits, and escalates for further review and approval.
  • Works daily with U.S., EU, and UK trade attorneys to support their client-facing needs.
  • Under the direction of attorneys, interacts regularly with clients, vendors, and government agency employees.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to provide quality client service to both internal and external contacts, regarding matters of a complex nature. Requires patience, creativity and discretion.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS suite to produce quality written communications such as memos, spreadsheets, slides, standard work documents.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel to independently produce complex reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a productive and committed work effort, meeting deadlines and managing workload.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a cooperative, enthusiastic and friendly manner to accomplish position functions and participate in team efforts.

Education

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs, International Business, Economics, or a related field, or a Bachelor’s Degree in another field but with at least two years of the type of work noted in the Experience section.

Experience

The position requires a minimum of one (1) year of experience with the following (education will be considered in lieu of experience):

  • Experience using compliance related software applications (e.g., World Check, Visual Compliance, Dow Jones, etc.).
  • Knowledge of U.S. export controls a plus, but not required (e.g., experience with classification and/or licensing under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)/United States Military List (USML), etc.).

Our Firm is committed to fair and equitable compensation practice in accordance with applicable laws. The salary range for this position is $57,400 – $83,200. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus. Other benefits include healthcare, vision, dental, retirement, and all-purpose leave. The salary for this position may vary based on location, market data, an applicant’s skills and prior experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other factors.
