Overview

The Inspector – Park Maintenance inspects, investigates, identifies, and reports various park quality deficiencies and contractor non-compliances.

Essential Functions

1 Conducts and Performs a wide range of inspections and maintenance on various park land equipment to ensure safety; works closely with others to identify challenging and complex issues and ensure appropriate resolution occurs.

2 Reports any park quality and compliance issues using a tablet or phone; administers preventive maintenance ensuring safety and operation.

3 Understands contract requirements and has the ability to apply them day to day.

4 Inspects all litter, mowing, and horticulture concerns on all parks and trails and the quality and progress of work contracted to outside vendors.

5 Able to walk the entirety of the parks, trails, and other facilities and for extended periods of time to ensure park quality standards are being met.

6 Multitasking and reporting different compliances for different vendors while adapting to variable work assignments and changing priorities.

7 Coordinates with and maintains effective working relationships with contractors and vendors.

8 Coordinates with district maintenance staff regarding contract compliance activities and inspections of various park components.

9 Adheres to the driving standards of the City.

10 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1 Knowledge of inspection practices and procedures.

2 Knowledge of Park and Recreation infrastructure and boundaries for City.

3 Knowledge of applicable standards, ordinances, laws, and regulations.

4 Ability to use power and hand maintenance tools and inspection tablet/phone.

5 Ability to read and interpret schedules and work specifications.

6 Ability to read, interpret, and apply City codes and ordinances.

7 Ability to enforce Park-related rules and regulations with firmness, tact, and impartiality.

8 Ability to work outdoors, including adverse working conditions such as extreme cold, heat, and temperature variations.

9 Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

10 Ability to work independently using sound judgment and decision-making, with general guidance provided by management.

11 Ability to operate a City vehicle.

12 Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing using appropriate business language.

13 Skilled in the use of computers.

14 Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience

3 years of experience in park maintenance, inspection, or related work.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid driver license is required.

Education

High school diploma, GED
