Westmoor Manufacturing, a family-owned companylocated in Dallas/Fort Worth, is looking for student interns to join ourcreative team in the exciting task of developing Rock and Roll Denim,Panhandle, and Powder River Outfitters fashion for men, women, and children.Our team is hard working, creative, goal oriented, and seeks interns toparticipate in every step of fashion design and product development. Theinterns hired for this position should expect to learn and leave with valuableknowledge and new skill sets.
We are offering an internship in Fashion Design for summer2023. Intern will receive compensation. A successful internship couldextend to part time employment during the school year.
Design Intern Responsibilities:
- Assist Designers in development of seasonal collections
- Learn to create prints and yarn dye design
- Assist in selection of Pantone standards for prints and solids
- Learn about fiber content and fabric construction
- Utilize Adobe Illustrator to create technical flats
- Learn to identify washes and other fabric treatments, including denim
- Assist with sample evaluations and contribute to decision making
- Communicate with factories daily to comment on current issues
- Communicate with Technical Design regarding fit intent, construction, and fabrication
- Assist with creation of artwork and embroideries
- Assist with trend research
- Shadow designers to understand brands and labels
- Learn to create technical packages for new development
- Help organize and maintain sample lines
- Attend fit sessions
- Assist in styling & dressing models for seasonal photoshoots
- Utilize Photoshop to adjust & process photos for sales catalog
Professional Growth:
Design Interns will receive a series of 3-4 challenges designedto build upon the skills learned during their internship.
Requirements:
Applicants should be Fashion Design majors intheir third year or later with abilities in Adobe Illustrator,Photoshop, and MS Office.
They should have strong design and technical skills with theability to work independently as well as within a team to meet deadlines.
