NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range
$101,400 – $172,300
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking an Ethics and Business Conduct Officer to join our team.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Conduct timely, independent formal investigations of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), ethics (compliance, conduct, personal conflict of interest), research misconduct, waste, fraud, abuse, and workplace violence allegations.
- Follow accepted standards of investigative processes and protocols in a fair and impartial manner.
- Present oral, written, and physical reports/evidence in disciplinary, state/EEOC, and other legal proceedings.
- Collect information and data from a wide variety of sources (interviews and employment records) and analyze information and data to present an overall finding regarding cases. Brief investigative results to management, Human Resources, Legal, and Employee & Labor Relations for appropriate action.
- Thoroughly document investigative steps and reports in a case management system.
- Review and mitigate employee’s Personal Conflict of Interest disclosures. Work with Legal and Technology Transfer to mitigate complex Personal Conflict of Interest disclosures.
- Effectively communicate EEO, ethics and business conduct standards to all employees through training, outreach, and various publications.
- Understand the work of various internal organizations for referral and collaboration purposes.
- Collaborate with a variety of internal (e.g., Legal, Human Resources, IT, Cyber, Security, Counterintelligence, Government Relations) and external (NNSA, DOE Inspector General) strategic partners, to obtain a complete understanding of an employee concern.
- Ensure that customer needs are satisfied through the creation of trust-based relationships and provision of competent policy guidance.
- Timely respond to EEO and Ethics Helpline/Email employee concerns.
- Provide trend and risk analysis and insight to Sandia’s executive management for consideration in decision-making and corporate actions.
- Participate in the development, revision, and implementation of internal policies, procedures, practices, and training.
- Provide skilled advice and interpretation of Sandia’s Code of Conduct, Corporate Policies, to include EEO-related policies and protections, Business Courtesies policy, Personal Conflict of Interest policy, etc.
- Work with state and federal investigative entities and local law enforcement as needed.
Onsite work (Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time).
Qualifications We Require
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (such as criminal justice, political science/government, business administration, pre-law, human resources), plus (5) or more years of relevant workplace investigation experience, or (5) or more years of practice in a relevant field of law, to include investigative report writing and interviewing/questioning skills.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire
- Master’s/Juris Doctor degree in a relevant discipline.
- Investigative experience with law enforcement, a state or federal investigative agency, business, or academic institution.
- Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional or other applicable certifications/training related to EEO, Ethics, Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion, Conflict Resolution/Mediation or Leadership.
- Experience reviewing and mitigating employee’s personal conflicts of interest disclosures.
- Ability to grasp technical details outside one’s area of competence and apply good judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to write organized, accurate, thorough, and objective reports in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated discretion in protecting confidential information.
- Experience with employee complaint and grievance mechanisms.
- Proven ability to successfully manage and complete multiple programs, projects, investigations, analysis and/or other related tasks within established deadlines.
- Proven ability to brief legal counsel, executives, and oversight agencies regarding sensitive investigations, policy recommendations, and program metrics.
- Experience developing and conducting training for large and diverse audiences.
- Experience drafting and revising internal policies.

The Ethics/EEO Advisory and Investigative Services Organization conducts corporate-wide efforts to promote a positive and ethical work environment. Ethics Officers (EOs) provide advisory services for questions concerning business conduct (e.g., accepting a gift, personal conflicts of interest) and other Code of Conduct concerns. In addition to advisory services, Ethics Officers conduct neutral and objective investigations into concerns related to potential violations of policy, processes, and Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct. Security Clearance
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
