Director, Employee Relations

Overview and Responsibilities

Our Director, Employee Relations is a key member of the Employment Relations and Employment Law Departments, responsible for investigating employment-related complaints. The position requires a complex multi-tasker, with a high level of emotional intelligence, integrity and discretion. This role is instrumental in providing a safe, secure culture at Paramount Global, across all divisions, where employees are not hindered by any bias or behaviors that limit their potential success.

This is a hybrid position with the expectation of working in the office (Hollywood/Los Angeles) at least two days per week.

  • At the direction of Vice President, Employment Relations and guidance of Employment Counsel, investigates allegations of unlawful behavior and/or violations of Company policy in compliance with federal/local law and Company policy
  • Manages investigative process from beginning to end inclusive of complainant intakes, subject and witness interviews, and review/analysis of pertinent documentation
  • Composes documentation inclusive of closing correspondence, investigative recaps, and case summaries as required
  • Partners collaboratively with Legal, Labor, Security, Safety and Human Resources and updates stakeholders appropriately
  • Makes recommendations regarding potential disciplinary measures and/or coaching support based on investigative findings and consistent remediation efforts throughout Company divisions
  • Manages and updates caseload regularly through the Employment Relations database management system
  • Identifies issue trends and proactive solutions
  • Assists with responding to employee complaints with state, federal and local agencies
  • Partners with Human Resources on training initiatives

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience investigating employment-related complaints
  • 5+ years of experience in a Human Resources role as an investigator and/or generalist
  • Ability to travel within US and Canada as required

  • High level of integrity, discretion and emotional intelligence
  • Amazing communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously, exhibiting keen prioritization skills
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws as well as general Human Resources policies and procedures
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive matters with compassion and equity
  • Ability to position oneself with all staff as a credible and trusted partner

Additional Information

Hiring Salary Range: $140,000.00 – 155,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
