Job Description:

The J&J MedTech Brand Operations leader with drive Johnson & Johnson’s transition to a master brand strategy – playing a critical role in shaping the future of J&J MedTech and its brand positioning. This role will help design, build, and manage the J&J MedTech brand operations capability to serve our franchise businesses and the sector. Reporting to the Senior Director of Brand Marketing & Innovation this individual will establish and activate a J&J MedTech brand architecture and operations strategy, including leading all aspects of a visual system (photography, digital, sector expression), naming & trademark, guidelines and governance. The role will be required to develop a strategy that supports a transition and future state for each of the franchises and the sector broadly, including the development and management of a brand transition implementation program.

As a critical brand leader, this individual will work closely with the franchise brand and marketing teams, communications leaders, and the corporate Brand Operations team and support and influence the brand governance approach to support the needs of the sector. In addition, the role partners closely with our corporate functions, in legal, finance, regulatory, and external design and strategy teams to ensure that all governance models and resources, owned and developed by this team, are of the highest level of standards and usability across the sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Brand Identity Strategy & Implementation
• Lead the brand architecture, naming strategy, and visual system approach for J&J MedTech sector and its application for franchises
• Design/develop standards for logos, lockups/attributions, naming, co-branding, etc. for internal and external usage in its application for the sector and our specialty areas.
• Lead naming, identity, and design solution sessions with franchises / internal stakeholders to address brand operations challenges.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure brand consistency across all marketing materials, including digital, print, and social media, during and after the transition period
• Lead the brand implementation strategy and manage the transition of all sector brand assets, including logos, taglines, and marketing materials, to align with the new brand strategy
• Work with agencies and external partners to develop and execute brand transition campaigns that drive awareness and engagement
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of brand transition and brand equity efforts
• Analyze market trends and brand insights to identify opportunities for brand growth to support the Masterbrand ambition.
• Translate Brand Expression for key partnerships and activations, including asset and guideline creation, management, and governance
• Manage the relationship between tax, legal, and regulatory stakeholders into our process for centralizing brand approval requests
• Work in partnership with our corporate brand operations team to align governance approach and brand expression across the sector and corporate.

Brand Governance:
• Develop and implement brand guidelines that ensure consistency across all channels and touchpoints to manage the transition.
• Identify, prioritize, implement, and maintain all tools, resources, and internal comms channels to drive ongoing organizational awareness, engagement, and understanding of the J&J brand, including through the J&J Brand Portal
• Drive operational rigor for defining new and maintaining existing governance processes, possibly including creative/legal reviews and approvals, asset management, etc.
• Serve as a liaison for internal/external design partners, sector brand leads, and corporate functions leaders, by maintaining a brand council and driving visibility and alignment across the company
• Lead and develop talent on our Brand team and partner with franchise teams

Brand Experience and Equity – Core Assets
• Lead the development of foundational brand assets – anthem video, brand messaging, and other creative expressions of the brand
• Lead branded content creation for high profile J&J MedTech activation moments and events
• Partner with Corporate Brand Equity team to ensure MedTech is represented in J&J Brand campaigns and content.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required with preference for study in the areas of marketing, design, or communications

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum of 10 years creative agency, marketing, or corporate brand side experience
  • Individual must possess extraordinary excellence in strategic and execution skills
  • Ability to effectively partner across multiple teams, blend together multiple points of view, and arrive at the best solutions are a must
  • High degree of managing complexity and a demonstrated ability to manage and influence all levels of the organization
  • Strong executional understanding of brand identity and brand strategy frameworks and practices.
  • Prior experience leading brand management and governance for a complex global organization
  • Design experience is preferred (you will be expected to create and present POVs of brand architecture, guidelines, and governance documents)
  • Experience implementing and maintaining a brand resource center, and familiarity with marketing and creative operations software programs
  • Experience conducting internal training sessions and workshops on branding, marketing, and communications topics
  • Experience working on/with creative agencies and leading large cross functional projects through to implementation and measurement

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $147,000 to $270,000. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
