Data Coordinator II, Utilization Management – FT/Days (8hr) – Long Beach

Position Summary:

The Data Coord II is responsible for providing coordination of data entry work flow, mail processing and file maintenance while assisting with data entry and scheduling for the department. Provides quality management and performance improvement expertise to ensure that management of the databases and data measures are maintained.

Essential Job Outcomes:

  • Collects, aggregates, analyzes and trends performance improvement data for all department procedures with the goal of improving satisfaction and functional outcomes. Demonstrates clerical skills that support paper flow and efficient operation of the department.
  • Prepares timely and accurate data reports to support the department’s performance improvement goals. Ensures timely and accurate follow through of all office based systems needed to assist with the department functions. Performs analytic functions where judgment is required.
  • Develops and maintains patient databases and the information security.
  • Investigates and takes action on identified variance as an opportunity for improvement. Protects confidentiality of medical record during any review process.
  • Participates in organizing programs for community education and in-house clinical education
  • Executes fiscal responsibilities as determined by department leadership to include functions to assure positive accounts receivable trends by processing and obtaining information required for authorizations.
  • Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relationships when interacting with other personnel and the public. Works collaboratively using clear communication to effectively interact with all constituents. Proactively participates in discussion of issues and new ideas to promote efficient department functioning.
  • Independently manages information and documentation for a specific assigned area as identified by the department. This includes but is not limited to processing and distribution of admission paperwork and all information received. Responsible for the efficient management and triage of telephonic and faxed information. Coordinates the scheduling of Resource or temporary help to support the staffing needs of the department.
  • Attends and participates in hospital and department education and training in-services. Participates in specific performance improvement projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range:$20/hr – $27/hr

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications

Qualifications :

  • 2+ years experience in healthcare setting with data entry, mail processing scheduling and file maintenance with evidence of designing and maintaining computerized databases and spreadsheets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field is preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Knowledge of insurance contracts, multi-payer systems and business office operation is preferred.
  • Clinical background preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills in Macintosh and Microsoft Windows environment, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Must have excellent organizational skills.
