The Bus Center of Excellence (COE) Architecture team provides space vehicle bus solutions for every earth orbit and mission space. The Bus COE works with mission partners to develop total mission solutions and align technology development to future mission needs. The team establishes the baseline technical solution for every aspect of a spacecraft solution in support of a mission payload while interfacing with mission and technology experts in every domain.

As a Systems Engineer for the Bus CoE, you will support the definition of bus and SV product offerings to satisfy new missions, integrating new and existing designs to create new mission configurations. This role will have opportunities for exposure to every aspect of Space Vehicle design.

In this role, you will:
• Configure unique space vehicle implementations from common bus starting points
• Evaluate potential launch configurations and payload configurations for a variety of mission and payload types.
• Optimize designs to minimize cost and redesign effort while maximizing available mission capability
• Perform system analysis and interface definition
• Participate in studies and system trades for enhanced capabilities
• Create and maintain technical baseline definition including performance budgets, block diagrams, schematics and interface definitions
• Participate in demonstration and IRAD development projects

Basic Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience working on a space, launch or missile system program
• Proficiency with CREO modeling of complex assemblies
• Experience completing and delivering an engineering product, for example: drawings, designs, diagrams, models, analyses, schematics, test execution, etc.
• US Citizenship with the eligibility to be granted a TS/SCI security clearance
Desired Skills:
• Experience with one or more Systems Integration functions including:
a.) System trade studies and/or System modeling
b.) Requirements and Interface Control Document (ICD) development
c.) System Integration, Test and/or Verification
d.) Test planning and execution with an understanding of all the interdependencies
• System design and test experience with one or more subsystems or fields outside of Systems Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Propulsion, RF, Software, etc.)
• Ability to interact with hardware and software developers to ensure mission requirements are satisfied
• Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and tackle numerous roles as part of the daily program operations
• Basic understanding of the behaviors of a systems thinker with the ability to select and apply appropriate systems thinking skills to solve problems and implement constructive change
• Active or Current TS/SCI Security Clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4×10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in Colorado or Washington is $67,400 – $129,300. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
