Reports to: Dean, MESH
Olympic College is seeking to hire a full-time classified Instructional & Classroom Support Tech 1 position for our Biology and Chemistry labs. This position will Assist in biology/chemistry classes at our Bremerton Campus. Prep for labs, setting up and taking down labs in addition to other laboratory work which supports the operation of the biology/chemistry program. These are not laboratory positions that analyze data or research.
Essential Functions
- Prepare lab experiments for biology & chemistry laboratory courses.
- Clean laboratories after classes, which includes recollecting all provided materials, cleaning and/or disinfecting bench tops, and sterilization of any biohazardous wastes.
- Operate laboratory equipment such as electronic balances, microscopes, spectrophotometers, pH meters, autoclaves, metering pumps, and centrifuges;
- Communicate with instructors regularly to ensure laboratory setups are adequate for the class. Modify equipment, materials, and programs as required for individual instructors
- May direct the work of others (Student workers);
- May perform inventories of chemicals, supplies, and equipment;
- Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience
- Additional college coursework in chemistry or biology will substitute for work experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or Chemistry from an accredited college.

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time classified position scheduled to work 40 hours a week, with a salary range of $39,528 – $52,620. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A when you have completed six months of probation, you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union. Classified positions qualify for the following benefits:
