Job Description

Industry Dive is looking for a journalist excited to join an ambitious team working together to tell the evolving story of U.S. manufacturing.

As an associate editor on Manufacturing Dive, you will write fast-paced stories on plant closings, openings and expansions, as well as in-depth features on the ways shifts in the economic, technological and supply chain landscape are affecting production strategies.

Your team will consist of a collaborative group of editors and reporters responsible for growing and operating multiple publications, including Manufacturing Dive, Supply Chain Dive, and Transport Dive. You will be assigned a manufacturing-specific beat to cover, while also helping to edit stories across the three publications, giving you insight into how the supply chain, transportation, and manufacturing industries intersect.

We don’t expect you to already be a manufacturing expert. We’re looking for candidates who will bring their curiosity to the table and who are eager to hone their business journalism skills.

Qualifications

  • A basic understanding of the U.S. manufacturing industry
  • Must be extreamly deadline driven
  • A track record of attention to detail, both in editing and reporting
  • Ability to write stories in different formats, such as breaking news or in-depth features
  • Experience editing stories for structure, flow and reporting gaps
  • Experience with the tools and tactics that help drive reader engagement, such as SEO, social media or analytics
  • An understanding of business topics, including familiarity with financial statements
  • Experience discerning the types of stories that resonate most with business readers
  • Experience learning and covering a new beat through original reporting
  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or similar field

Additional Information

The salary range for this role is $51,500 – $58,000 based on experience.
