Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing instruction and serving as advisor to students enrolled in the Music Program each Fall and Spring semester. The Assistant Professor in Music – Director of Bands will build and develop the college band program as well as provide instruction for general education courses in music depending upon departmental need(s) and instructor expertise.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Master’s Degree in Music with an emphasis in instrumental music, conducting and/or music education plus a minimum of one year conducting experience at the college level or a minimum of three years directing at the high school level is required. Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and staff from multi-cultural backgrounds.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to teach effectively
• Knowledge of overall operation of instrumental music program
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills
• Ability to use a personal computer and associated peripherals and current version of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, Internet, and alternative delivery systems (e.g., internet and interactive video) at a proficient level
• Ability to operate standard office equipment including phone and copier
